Welcome to Taylor Brothers Memorial Project

Tombstone Dedication and Memorial Weekend: April 23-25, 2027
More Information

We have raised funds* to honor the memories of William and Charles Taylor, who changed the course of the design of the Uilleann Pipes (Irish Bagpipes). They emigrated to America from Drogheda, Ireland and spent much of their American lives working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where they did their innovative work as pipe makers, and ultimately where they died. They are buried in a pauper's grave in the Old Cathedral Cemetery. This project is aimed at memorializing the Taylor Brothers with a tombstone.  We are still accepting donations, and those donations are tax deductible and will go to providing a memorial at their gravesite. Additional funds will go to support the Memorial Weekend at this point

*Note as of February 4, 2026 we have raised the amount to buy the tombstone. We will be using excess funds for the dedication. Thank you to all the musicians, pipemakers, individuals, and piping clubs that have made this possible!
